she/her/hers
Hi there! My name is Emily, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Idaho. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthrozoology from Carroll College in Helena, MT and obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling from Boise State University.
I have experience working with individuals, teenagers, young adults, and adults in multiple different areas including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, as well as other mental health illnesses and disorders. I uses several different therapy approaches for healing, changing patterns, improving communication, understanding one’s emotions, and expressing those emotions. My initial focus is on creating a safer space for individuals to feel heard, understood, and respected; and my goal is to work with you to determine your strengths, solidify healthy coping skills and positive communication skills, improve your mental health, and increase your awareness of your emotions, why they're occurring, and what to do with them. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming!
I am most passionate about helping teenagers and young adults tackle the anxiety that they feel in the important relationships in their lives, learn coping skills, improve their communication, reduce anxiety overall, decrease mental stressors, and feel that they have more enjoyment in life.
I am originally from the suburbs of Portland, OR. I enjoy spending my time: hiking, camping, and backpacking in the Sawtooths; baking, especially different types of bread; caring for my houseplants; visiting family and friends; and training my dog, Astro.
I integrate the following therapies into my traditional, talk therapy style: Adlerian therapy (individual psychology), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), feminist therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and strengths-based therapy.
